Out of Line for Greater Well-Being is my memoir being released in sequence. To read from the beginning please go to Why I’m Writing posted in the Archive.

I’m using my autobiography as a reexamination of societal standards, cultural norms, religious orthodoxy, and familial expectations – anything drawn for us by others and taught to us as the truth, or “the way the world works,” sometimes at the expense of our own authenticity, health, and well-being.

I’m writing out of my own life experience, education, and reason. I was born in the deep south, raised in one of the most conservative of states, educated in public schools and also instructed in the orthodoxy of religion, particularly mainline Christianity. I majored in religion in college and completed a Master’s of Divinity at Duke University.

For the past fifteen years I've been a Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach with additional training in Mindfulness Meditation and Mindful Self Compassion. I’ve been coaching, facilitating, and guiding individuals and groups and training others to do the same for the bulk of my professional life. I’ve worked independently as well as with Duke University Health System, the Veterans Health Administration, the Whole Health Institute, and University of Health & Performance.

And now, I'm shifting into further creative pursuits focusing even more on paying attention, listening, writing, content creation in general, and nurturing cherished relationships in particular. A primary motivating quote for me is, "The world changes in direct proportion to the number of people willing to be honest about their lives." Armistead Maupin

I’m writing as honestly as possible about my life with the hope that the world will change.
